I installed D6.1 a few weeks ago and got everything up and running. Upgraded to D6.2 and still everything is running smoothly. All this was installed in a sub-domain as to test it out.
So now I followed the steps in "Moving your Drupal installation to a new directory" - node/3366, except for the cron update for which only runs monthly right now,
Once I did that, I typed in www.mydomain.com and got the following message:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function user_uid_optional_to_arg() in /home/user/public_html/includes/menu.inc on line 594
The only thing I can tell for sure is that it is doing all this in my root directory, by looking at the path, which tells me it found the file and that's a good thing! I just need to find out what's it's trying to do now!
I went to my .htaccess file and took notice of the rewrite engine but don't see any reason to change that:
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ index.php?q=$1 [L,QSA]
I'm at a loss now...I can't trouble-shoot this because I'm not familiar with the entire process.

Got into "update.php"
After my last post, like always I keep at it, I typed in: www.mydomain.com/update.php and the page loaded!
Now, I needed to go to settings.php and change $update_free_access to true and finally got the page to load. My thinking is that my DB needs to know that my site is now located in the root directory and this update.php will make those changes.
But that's just my thinking...I could screw it all up for all I know:)
So, I downloaded a backup copy of my DB and stopped right there. I guess I'm afraid to HIT that button and end it all. So am I right about this DB update thing and should I HIT the button? Or, am I getting things in worse shape than it already is?

OK, if anyone ever does take a look at this post...I went ahead and took a chance! I ran update.php and got my site up and running in the root directory. Man...I was sweating bullets.
Unfortunately, I'm somehow told by my site report that I need to upgrade to 6.2 again! Now I know I copied my system to the root directory AFTER I already upgraded (my system in the sub-domian directory) from 6.1 to 6.2! So apparently, there must be some data file that didn't get copied along with the rest. I'll look for that...on my own! Otherwise I'll do it all over again!
Just one more thing I found out. Any links that pointed to a file in the old path...my subdirectory path...gave me the same fatal error message I got before. I noticed only certain links were doing that so I checked out the path and found that they all were being pointed to the old sub-directory. Changed them to the new and viola! NO fatal error message.
I'm still checking everything out to make sure it's working right...will post if I run into any more issues!
Well, the only problem I see
Well, the only problem I see now, besides having to upgrade again, is the site is showing me as being logged in all the time. When I do log in, my username shows up twice. I'm assuming that I must have not logged out of my old site (at the sub-domian) before I changed over to the new site (in my root directory)!
So, if anyone knows how I can remove that logged in entry from my db, I sure would be pleased to find out. I've searched all my tables in my db already. I'm not that familiar with manipulating MySQL tables yet.
The only way I see to accomplish this would be to go through the process of running update.php all over again but from my old site. Then log out and go back and run update.php again from my new site. Seems like the hard way to me!
But then again....I'm assuming this is what the issue is.

Well, I don't know that I did anything...but the double log in issue is no more. I emptied the site cache, my browser cache, logged out, logged in and it finally showed me as logged in one time. Once I logged out, I reloaded page and found user information was correct...1 guest, no users. Now for that upgrade...
