I was surprised to see no option for setting a default location, and was unable to find any discussion of it being needed, perhaps I am the only one interested but here's what I envision: In the /admin/settings/location page you can set an optional "site wide" default location. For example, if your site's audience is mostly in one area. If it's not, then you can leave the "site wide" default blank, and instead on the settings for each content-type, there is an identical place for default location. For example, if you were letting people schedule events and noticed they were mostly in one area, you might want defaults on the "events" page but not for users.

Mike Sances commentedI'm looking for this / a discussion of this too. As Drupal is for community websites, and many communities are geographical, there are likely many Drupal sites where users will be entering in the same location information (city, state/province, zip) for every node.

yesct commentedThere is a default country selection in the latest version.
I wonder if the new cck location fields buy any progress toward default values.
I'll tag this and see if I can find other issues requesting default values.

ankur commentedI believe this is now possible in 6,x-3.x and later.
