HOW TO setup Advanced Forum with Zen - Drupal 5.x

Version: Drupal 5.x
Subtheme: Zen 5.x
Module: Advanced Forum

Drupal is setup and working great. However, I'm having trouble fully understanding the documentation for the Advanced Forum Module setup. I'm on step 5. on here: http://drupal.org/node/227108

I am under the impression I'm supply to place this code here (without the php tags) in my Zen sub theme directory in the file template.php
