Hi,
I'm marking this one as a Bug-Report (rather than Feature request) for the following reason:
I've previously (and unsuccessfully) tried to make use of Drigg's excellent Aggregator RSS -> Scoop converter. But when the nodes started coming in I remember they were being published but as "n/a" empty space. I reported this in Drigg issue queue a while ago, but I can't find it any more.
Now I _think_ it finally dawned on me what could be causing all this!!!
As you know, I'm running a multilinqual site, which operates in 3 languages. (Which I hope is a good testing ground for Drigg's multilingual abilities :) . When a node is created and the language of that node is not chosen among i18n (internationalization) options, it results in a series of "foreach" bugs and errors.
My best guess is that what might be causing the incompatibility between Drigg RSS converter and a multilingual site, is that while Drigg RSS converter provides few nice options in terms of taxonomies and "Submit as", it does not provide an option for the choice of language for that particular feed. I'm 90% convinced that this is where that unexplainable bug is. And thus the node doesn't know into which "pipe" (English, Korean or Urdu) to go.
Has anyone else tried using Drigg RSS converter feature on a multilingual site?

drupalina commentedYep, I can now confirm that this is the reason why.
As some subscribed RSS feeds started comming in they appear as empty spaces and are inaccessible (Page not found) when clicked. And when clicked on its link in the "Upcoming" block it goes to the front page.
The only way I could "access" it would be to go to Content management >> Content and click "Edit" for that content. Inside the editing area all is well and beautiful, except for the language sellection which is left empty.
The moment that I choose the language and hit "submit", all is well and works perfectly again.
So a language selection option should be added to the Drigg RSS submodule (if module i18 exists on a given site), and everything will work perfectly.
I can test a dev Drigg RSS module on my live site immediately if you provide one. You can contact me on GoogleTalk.

mercmobily commentedHi,
This is a pretty specialised feature/problem. I have _no_ experience in multi-lingual site. In fact, even setting up a test one was a failure for me... with tons of problems.
I need to defer this, and wait for somebody with _any_ multilingual site experience to actually look into this.
Sorry...
Merc.

mercmobily commentedHi,
Drupalina, I have no idea what to do about this.
Unless you are able to get somebody else to have a look at this, I am afraid I will have to mark it as won't fix because I really have no idea where to start, what to do, or not even what the problem is. Sorry... :-(

Could you give me more infos ?
drupalina commentedHi Cedric,
To reproduce this bug do the following:
1) Set up a Drupal & Drigg site as usual.
2) Enable Drupal's core Aggregator module, and add some RSS feeds to it
3) Set up the i18n module. It's a BIG package of modules, but if you follow their instructions it's fairly simple. Start with enabling the i18n modules.
Add a couple of extra languages -- French, Italian, etc
In Multilingual System, under "Add Translation" choose "Interface language depends on content."
for "Vocabulary translation" check Section and Tags
Under "Internationalization" tab >> "Browser language detection" check "Enabled"
IMPORTANT: "Content Selection Mode" choose "Only current language and no language" (this basically separates your site into the number of languages that are active on your site)
In "Scoop" Content Type choose "Normal - All enabled languages will be allowed" for Multilingual options.
You can also choose to Synchronise Comments, File Attachments, Imagefield (but this is not too important)
Now under "Content Management" go to one of your working RSS feeds in the "News Aggregator". Click "Edit" for any of those RSS feeds. -- Expand "Drigg RSS feeder", and check "Enable this feed in Drigg". Also enter a number for "Submit as UID", Choose "Category" (or Section), choose Tags. Hit Submit.
This is it.... as soon as the new RSS feeds start coming in, the aggregator will start picking them up, and Drigg RSS Importer will try to convert them into "Scoops". However, because we've enabled "Only current language and no language" AND because we've enabled language selection in Scoop's content type options as "Normal - All enabled languages will be allowed", what will happen is that the system will get confused because the new Scoop nodes that are produced do not have a set language.
So what is needed under the expanded "Drigg RSS feeder" options is a Language selection option (along with the existing options for "Submit as UID", "Category" and "Tags")
Please let me know if you have more details.

mercmobily commentedHi,
What concerns me about this issue is that it will take a *lot* of programming and debugging time, for a remarkably slim portion of the Drigg user base. Triaging heree is a little tricky.

cedricfontaine commentedHello Drupalina,
Do you have any test site and account I can play with to test ?
mercmobily commentedHi,
@drupalina: please let Cedric know. Since he can't reproduce the issue, this might turn into a permanent won't fix.
Bye,
Merc,

mercmobily commentedHi,
Poster disappeared, we spent tons of time trying to reproduce this, possibly not a bug but related to the user's configuration.
Sorry, won't fix.

rek2 commentedHi,.... I hate to say this but today I downloaded this module and I have exacly the same issue.. I was already going to post about it..
I was looking to just one feature, for drupal to choose language between spanish and english depending in the browser locale..
as soon I enable de module(just the main one) my front stories are gone.. when I dissable the module then it works.. I am 100% aware that
this may not be related to drigg or maybe it is.. but I am just asking maybe to take a fast look, Marc I think you may still have my login etc if you wish to
explore for 5m, it may be just something we are doing wrong or something easy to change.. you never know.
the module is:
Multilanguage - i18n
--Internationalization
Thanks,.

mercmobily commentedHi,
Please note that I am not being angry, just very direct.
This issue is turning into a nightmare. And I won't allow that.
Cedric has already wasted time on this as well.
The next step, if you want us to fix it, is to provide an _exact_ list of steps to follow to reproduce the issue. I mean _exact_ -- much more exact than #6, which leaves way too much to be desired.
A monkey needs to be able to follow the instructions (which should be a point list). Don't say "Get a foreign language feed". Give the feed's URL. Don't say "pick a few languages". List the ones to pick.
See: step-by-step.
Then, we'll talk.
Merc.

mercmobily commentedHi,
If you're happy to hop onto his server, I am totally fine with it.
Please keep in mind that you'll need the ability to change the source files (so, SFTP). The best way to test is to do something like:
global $user;if($user->uid == 1){ drupal_set_message("Blah"); }
You will also need DB access, and the administration login/password for Drupal.
This note is more for rek2 than Cedric :-D

Any news on this one guys?

mercmobily commentedHi,
It's going to take a _lot_ of convincing and dedication from the reporting user to change this "won't fix" into anything else.
Merc,
