Drupal MAGAZINE SITE

bevinlorenzo - May 9, 2008 - 05:32

Well, I finished the Beta version of my first Drupal site: www.thesquarelife.com It is a site for a local magazine in Utah called Square Magazine. Let me know your thoughts. (other than, "it's slow!" I already know and am in the progress of upgrading the server resources and bandwidth.)

Thanks!

very nice for new drupal developer to accomplish this much!!

In fact, i like it alot..... the layout and design fits well as a local magazine.... with ample space for ads.....

did you use any existing theme as a base to start this project?
how did you implement the dropdown menu "over" the flash content?
what modules and modifications did you use?

finally, it would be great to read your write-up on your site's development.... we will be very much benefited.

Great Work, and Good luck!!

I actually repurposed NoKoala by Ross Kendall

bevinlorenzo - May 9, 2008 - 22:22

I repurposed his theme because it best represented the layout and nav functionality that I wanted. The drop-down navigation is 99% CSS and expanded menus, which allows them to overlay different site elements.

www.rosskendall.com - here is an example.

And this is a Drupal 5 site. I am too novice to handle so many dev modules.

Amazing mod. !!

i could never have thought that the nokoala theme can be transformed into such functional grid based design!!!

i am eager to see your next drupal project as well your documentation!!!
Wish you all the luck with the online magazine!!!

looks nice! is it d5 or d6?

is this a d6 site?
if so, is this a custom theme as well?

documentation coming

This was a fantastic learning experience for me as a novice Drupaler and the back end is very sloppy while I am learning the ropes. Drupal project #2 will be much cleaner and functional. However, I will do my best to document what it is that I have done to this point. Stay Tuned...

g8 work

You done g8 work, it is a nice magazine implementation.

1. It is Drupal 5x or 6x ?
2. How did you integrate transparent multilevel horizontal menu (i think it is nice menus) but can you explain ?
3. How did you integrate flash based slideshow ?
