Integration with Contact module?

I love Messenger and I've even gone so far in my affection as to "improve" on it slightly by adding a tab in the user account view.

There is one more improvement I'd like to see, though: the option of having messages emailed, like in Moodle's Message module. I'd love to work on it myself, but I am but a very neophyte developer, more of an extremely minor subdeveloper, or a pre-apprentice subdeveloper's helper, actually, so it would take half an eon before it happened if left to me.

One fanciful method might be to instruct Messenger to forward messages to Contact after a set delay. Of course it might just be easier to stick bits of Contact into Messenger, or of Messenger into Contact. I don't know. I'm just a peon.

But I think I might just look into that. After all, I figured out that whole tab business all on my lonesome. Perhaps I'm destined for greater things.
