Hi Martin.
Hi Martin,
I'm in Dublin, I'm a web developer / designer you can see my personal blog here: http://www.gavindoolan.com/
I would like to get more involved with Drupal and learn more about it, I've build custom theme's for joomla / wordpress and I've done some research for Drupal, but haven't built a theme yet.
What did you have in mind? I'm looking to launch a site in the future that uses the multisite feature, but I'm also considering a commercial product called expression engine.
By the way are you a member of http://www.irishwebmasterforum.com ? You may find some more Dubliners there interested, although I mentioned Drupal on there some time ago and it was pretty quiet.
Cheers,
Gavin.
Hi Gavin Yeh the Dublin
Hi Gavin
Yeh the Dublin scene is very quiet for drupal there is interest in Ireland but it seems to be concentrated in the West of the country
Im interested in getting a group going so that we can bouce ideas around - Drupal is such a wide framework with a lot of possibilties and it would be nice if we could organise some thing here in Ireland the is
At the moment Ive developed some modules but their basic stuff - experimenting with ajax requests with drupal modules and having various degrees of success - have finished a few personal themes for clients nothing spectacular :) though I do find it difficult to theme the admin section with my custom theme
It would be good if we could get a group going that would meet monthly - with some talks/demonstration on web use with drupal
there are a number of users here in Ireland so I might spam the lot of them about a meetup in Dublin - but it would be nice if the first meeting was presentation focus on some elements of web development
Would you be confortable giving a brief presentation on some of you theming work, maybe the process that you use in converting a theme to drupal

Hi Martin,
Hi Martin,
Sorry I missed this post, I don't seem to be email notified about it.
That sounds good, but to be honest I haven't created a Drupal based theme just yet. I've only read about the ins and outs of doing so. I have created theme's for other systems as mention Wordpress / Joomla and I don't imagine Drupal to be too much more difficult, however there is so much to understand in terms of how Drupal works and at this stage I'm still trying to get it all under my belt.
I would be happy to give a presentation on themeing, but only after I've been through the process myself :). After all I need to be able to answer some questions - as they will no doubt arise :).
I'm going to check why I'm not email notified about replies so hopefully will be able to keep in touch easier.

I'm not an active Drupal user though I would consider it if I needed a solid CMS for some project. I implemented a website a couple of years ago on Drupal 4.7 and it's still going strong.
I've also run websites on WordPress and Blogger though I also like to hand-roll simple website generators for particular tasks.
