Small TinyMCE question

Hello,
I have installed the TinyMCE editor and it is working okay. Except that the cursor defaults to the centre of the text area and sits above a black bar which makes it difficult to see/read the first line of text as you type it in.

Does anyone know how to change the module settings to -

1) Make the text start on the left?

2)Bring the first line of text down a bit into the text box area and not above the black bar which is part of the text area border?

Any help is appreciated.
