I've done some research on Drupal's forum capabilities and I've found a lot of complaining about the default forums in Drupal not being very forum-like. These complaints all seem to be from a few years ago so I'm wondering if they're more like typical forums now. Good and bad

By default, Drupal forum pages (nodes in our language) will look like every other page on your site. That can be very good or very bad depending on your audience.

Of course, with some custom theming you and maybe a few contributed modules you can make them look just like the forums from other forum software. The real advantage of going with a Drupal forum if you're building a site on Drupal already is that you'll have tight integration (users, pages, blocks, etc)
