pathauto error

I just installed pathauto and had problems with it generating user profile aliases. Using the default [title-raw] snippet pathauto would create a url like "domain.com/users/(username)". The only problem is that drupal reads the profiles as "user" and not "users".
Deinstalled pathauto since I could not resolve that problem.
change your settings
The default patterns are "safe" but not mandatory. You can easily visit this by visiting the settings page.
For 6.x: Administer > Site building > Url aliases > Automated alias settings
For 5.x: Administer > Site configuration > Pathauto
Also, you said that there was an "error". Was there an error message or is it just that you prefer using "user/username" instead of "users/username"
