I am looking for a hosting company to house our Drupal based website. Our site collects transactions so it is of utmost importance to make sure people can reach and process their transactions quickly. We estimate about 50,000 hits per month. Processing about 5,000 transactions.

What kinds of transaction you are talking about here? Is it an in-house transaction or 3rd-party transaction? The hosting requirement are quite different in these 2.

Perhaps you can start off with a VPS for now and then gradually move on to a dedicated server as your site grows. You can get a good VPS in the price range of $35-$50.
