Just an FYI--
On drupal 5.7 using cvs_deploy, update_status, checked out using -r DRUPAL-5--2-0, update_status reports the module is out of date and that 5.x-2.0-rc8 is the recommended version. Everything is fresh and checked out from cvs using the current recommended versions.

Recommended release 2.1 seems to have fixed the problem. closing.
