Can anyone confirm if CCK/Views works with basic functionality in D6? I'm having the hardest time trying to configure a simple News field that displays in page and block format. If anyone can confirm if that things are broken at this point or not - that would be great.

I don't think anything stable has been released. Views has a beta2 out for D6 and CCK is still at beta1.

Is there a group specifically for D6 cck/views? Is the general feeling that all mod development from this point on will go straight to D7 from D5?

I'm not sure about a group (you can search groups.drupal.org for it) but there will be d6 versions of the modules.

Views and CCK are just going through some 'upgrades' and changes between 5 and 6. But when D7 is finally released the update of the modules shouldn't be this long.
