What happen with img_filter module

cyprien2 - May 13, 2008 - 11:41

Hi,
I'm using the img_file_filter module since a while and i'm very happy with it : simple, usefull, good documentation...
Today, i try to install it on a new site, and when i went to the module page (http://drupal.org/project/img_filter),
This module has been abandoned by the original maintainer. The project page has been recreated but the old issues are currently inaccessable. As of now, there is no maintainer so please don't start using this project. If you are already using it, you can continue to use it but there will be no work done on it until a new maintainer is found.
What the problem with this module ? No maintainer can take it again ? Is there a news module that can do the same ??
Thanx in advance...

+1 for img_filter and for Vrencian. Hope to see this module on Drupal.org again. Inline is not out for D6, img_filter is documented and works just fine.
Perhaps the solution is to have a better sort of the modules :
Modules in Core
Modules supported by Drupal
Modules contributed
Sorry for my poor English

Ridiculous behavior

I find this completely ridiculous. I am trying to upgrade my 5.x drupal installation to 6.x and in the process discovered the whole img_filter mess.

img_filter was the ONLY module I could find that would let me write stories with multiple images. Now I discover that due to silly people griping about "module duplication" the developer was kicked out and the module is no longer available.

Guys, wake up. First, all suggested replacements are patchworks of FAIL. I tried img_assist and read about at least a dozen other solutions, none of those work properly. Second, even if they DID work, I would need to migrate all of my content from img_filter to those new things, which is a tedious manual process. Third, if you write GPL software you should embrace code duplication, not fight it. And fourth, the developer of img_filter didn't "duplicate" anything, he started off some common code and wrote a MUCH BETTER module.

I am so annoyed now that I am looking at how to ditch Drupal altogether. It's too much of a mess to maintain, and silly bickerings like that make life even more difficult for me.
