next time you do any work to SiteMenu, would you plase consider adding a new var in "settings".

For the purpose of determining how many columns to display.

One Column, Two column, Three Column - I don't believe it would be possible for anyone to achieve a 4 column, by nature the data would be to wide. An example of this and perhaps some code - would be the Tax DHTML module. Not to imply you would ever need to use someones else's code. :-)
