Instead of tracking all the new activity I would like to be able to track only the activity of those users who are connected to me through buddy list. What is the best way to go about that?

What I am actually asking is how do I turn the My buddies' recent posts block into a node of its own.

I answered my own question, I put the block on the front page only and removed everything else. It created the look I was going for :)
