New Project: Professional Warrior
I am a US Marine looking to start a community for professional warriors by professional warriors. A CMS that will be used by a staff of writers to create written, audio, and video articles. Articles should go threw an approval process. Written articles should have the ability to attach audio (spoken versions of the same article), or video. A back end for staff to post content. The ability for specific staff members to write their own blog entries. Written articles should have the ability to define words or attach specific audio clips to a word. These audio/video articles should also be available in RSS for iTunes/Zune/mp3 download. This site will be a community for Professional Warriors, practical guidance and philosophy in this trade. Note that this project is mine and I'm paying for it out of pocket, not that of the government. The ability to integrate non-intrusive ads (text only) into the site is still under consideration. I have been doing IT for quite some time and while my web dev skills are starting to dwindle i feel like i could set up much of the drupal modules myself. The site i have up (see below) is one i did myself.
I have a hosting solution already. I already have a domain, http://www.professionalwarrior.org . As of now I see no reason why all code shouldn't be given back to the community. Looking for a company in the US.
I can post a list of features, and the proposed work flow.

Be careful
Hey Zach,
First off, thanks for your service! Dunno where you're deployed, but stay safe wherever it is.
Second, I'm not sure what the basic aim of the site is, but if it's to swap SOPs/TTPs there are a number of sites already out there:
https://www.us.army.mil/suite/login/welcome.html
http://companycommand.army.mil/
and then the USMC version:
https://acc.dau.mil/CommunityBrowser.aspx?id=23451
HOWEVER in the past the Brass have reacted strongly against this sort of thing, so tread lightly: http://blog.wired.com/defense/2008/02/army-wikis-too.html
Awesome that you're trying to put this together though, and good luck!
Thanks for your concern.
Thanks for your concern. You are obviously talking with military experience. My vision for the site is not so much SOPs as it is 'philosophy meets application'. Discussing the idea of warfighting, things you can do with your peers and subordinates to stimulate deeper thinking, as well as promoting the idea that what you have chosen to do (if only for 4 years) is a way of life, not a 9 to 5 job.
Semper Fi,
Zach
