Hello.

I'm having a weird problem with my search module. I have enabled it but it doesn't show up when I print the $search_box

Why is this happening?

Check administer -> site building -> themes -> configure for the theme that you are using. There is a checkbox there that has been the source of many people's search box frustration.

Thanks! That was really the key point!

Isn't this checkbox a little worthless?

I think it was probably put there for the people that will just use the default theme and want to be able to show and hide search without touching any code, but it definitely causes a lot of headaches for those of us who always go to the code first.
