I use forum software (SMF) that allows folks to choose from avatars stored in a directory structure and I want to give this same functionality to users of Drupal. The avatars are stored under a main directory called, appropriately, avatars either directly or in subdirectories that seperate them into categories like 'musicians', 'actors', etc. The user is given a list of either avatars or categories and they navigate to the avatar of their choice. It's a little difficult to explain but if you need to see how it looks to the user you can register on my site, www.flippitywidget.com, and go to the usercp and see how the selection is done from the profile page. I have a large collection of avatar pics as I am sure many people do and it is much easier to just drop the collection into a directory than try to add them one by one as is done currently with this module.

stella commentedIn the latest release of the module (6.x-1.3), there is the ability to do a bulk upload of avatars. First you put the avatars into the "avatar_selection" directory, then check the "scan for new avatars" option under the "bulk upload" collapsed fieldset on the avatar selection upload page.

stella commentedThere's no plan to add categorisation of avatars at present, however there is the ability to bulk upload avatars now. Hope this helps.
