I saw several comments against Fantastico installation for Drupal that I have to agree with.

My hosting installed a few months ago "simplescripts" which allows you to install drupal with just one click.
It seems good, simple and easy and it shows you the latest version of your application for updating without delay.

I did not see any comments on this script. It will be nice to know what the experts can say about it.

I tested out SimpleScripts a month or so ago, seemed like a quick and easy way to go. I installed 6.1, and then 6.2 came out a couple days later. I was out of town the day Drupal came out with 6.2, but when I checked the next day, SimpleScripts had it ready for upgrade. Pretty impressive.

As for security, I was curious to see what types of changes these auto-installers make to the default installation. So I installed using SimpleScripts, Fantastico, and a default installation manually. When I ran a diff of each auto-install to the manual, Fantastico made some changes, but SimpleScripts managed to keep everything intact. So as long as the default installation is secure, then I would assume SimpleScripts is as well. :)

My take? Much improved.

edit - I forgot to mention that there was a backup restore available when I did the upgrade, which heightens my opinion even more.
