I have just installed Drupal and have signed in as the admin and tried to follow the Welcome page, but nothing seems to opens, just stays on the welcome page. This was installed with fantastico.
please help,

You must CREATE some CONTENT

For this make sure, you have modules like story, pages etc enabled *AND* PROPER PERMISSIONS
granted.

Now create some content, and it will show up in the first page :)

Thanks, the modules are alreay there. I cannot get any access to the site. It will not let me creat a new member or anything.

Have you created admin account ?
If so then log in as admin and grant permissions.

Some of the fantastico scripts automatically create a default admin account for you. You would have to check with your host company or read the accompanying docs from your provider to validate this. If this is so, nothing we can do.

You could also try a scratch install.
