How do I set up automatic subscription to Group?

Description

Organic groups 5.x-7.1
Organic Groups Subscriptions 5.x-1.1

In the group node edit, I have checked: New members are subscribed to notifications automatically. However, when a new user joins the group his "To this group" button in the "Subscribe" fieldset is NOT checked.

OK. So, I went into Subscriptions->Site settings and:

  Restricted group types: None
  Omitted group types: None
Limit listing of subscriptions in account(user/#uid/subscriptions/group) to those where user is
   member: Checked

And, in Subscriptions->User defaults->Groups, I checked all the groups.

So, now, a new user is automatically subscribed to the group he joins (good).

But the user sees in his My Account->Subscriptions Overview the total number of groups on the site (bad)

However, in My Account->Subscriptions->Groups he only sees the group(s) he is a member of (good)

So, I have two questions:

1. Does the New members are subscribed to notifications even work? If so, what else needs to be done to have the "This group" checkbox checked for the user.

2. If not, and I must set in User defaults all groups to be subscribed to for notifications upon registration, will the user receive "public" notifications (content all users should see) from groups he is NOT subscribed to? Logically, node permissions won't allow him to receive private group content if he isn't a member of the group, but since the Subscription module subscribes him to notifications for all groups, theoretically he should receive public content from the group.

Or, if all of this sounds too complicated, I'd appreciate someone telling me exactly how to get a user automatically subscribed to group content notifications upon joining a group from just the group(s) he is a member of.

Thanks!

@SomebodySysop thanks for this exemplary bug report!

Unfortunately subscriptions_og is not compatible with og 7.x yet, so I suggest to test a working setup explained at the screencast in project page.

Blessings!

Sincerely.

What are the issues? That is, what has changed in OG to make the current subscriptions_og incompatible?

I did not reviewed og 7.x yet. Sorry.

If you, or anyone who knows this module well, will take a look at the issues, I'm willing to try and find some code solutions. I just don't know what to look for.

There's a patch attached at http://drupal.org/node/265618#comment-883100 that allows subscriptions_og installation to succeed on a site with og5.x-7.2. It hasn't been tested with the rest of og5.x-7.2 but the patch will get you further down that road.

Subscribing. I'm actually curious, where does this New members are subscribed to notifications option appear? I can't find this at all when I'm editing an organic group node. Thanks!

Automatic subscriptions to groups is almost invisible. Basically, user got subscription "To this group" when he joins to a group.
Visibility of this feature depends on how subscriptions_ui is configured.

I've committed some changes today, please review http://drupal.org/node/272808#comment-896677 for instructions.

Blessings!

@digidoo, does it means that you tested dev release? I am waiting for feedback months ago...

Blessings!
