Portfolio, how to organize list of portfolio by year? Example of customized included

I have used drupal for a while now, and now finally decided to move my custom made portfolio a while ago into drupal.

I am doing CCK and new content types but the main question still remains, how do I organize all nodes and display them by year like this:

Of course I'd also want to create abstract tags and industry tags.

My first guess is to also tag a year. Then some how program or use some sort of module to display by year tag, grouped by year.
