Profile Module Save Changes

I need you help with the following. I think this will also help with the profile module in future. Your suggestion and comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Okay the my user profile consist of tabs the page I am refering to is http://www.corpxchange.za/?q=user/3/edit

This is the problem I am having: when busy creating your profile the user enters values into one tab. Now the point of view from a user who does'nt understand the system is that when the user forgets to hit the save button and instictively moves to the next tab all their changes are lost. Now I would think js is the answer because when the form loses focus I need to check if anything has changed and prompt the user to save their work.

Whats the best step towards a solution for this?
