WYSWYG editor which DOESN'T drop performance to a crawl?

eggthing - May 18, 2008 - 01:33

I have tried Tinymce, Fckeditor even Yahoo's YUI and a whole host of others. I'm about ready to start bawling! They ALL seem to have huge perfromance consequences. Any pointers in the right direction? I really need WYSWYG for my poetry site. http://poetryslag.com

I mean... poets need tabs and stuff. Ya know?

Scrap em! We use BUEditor

Scrap em! We use BUEditor and MarkDown with SmartyPants for all sites we build. There are very few occasions when a user needs to be able to make underlined pink size 30 comic sans with ants dancing around it. Poets should be stricter than most. Why do they need more than bold and italic text?

Apparently, poets really need tabs. They are also notoriously untechnical (some of them, not me!)

If it's html based, it's not really gonna give us tabs is it? Is there a way to give what they crave with this combo?

You can do tabs with

You can do tabs with BuEditor, it's just a matter of setting your input filter to translate tabs to html character entities (use Custom Filter module) as browsers mostly ignore excessive white space.

Thanks!
