Could you put some form of time stamps on chat? Maybe round the numbers to make it small, like "9am" or if it is older than a day "5/19".
It could be on roll over of the name or something.

Great module by the way, lots of people really like it on the intranet at work. Love it.

Thanks for the compliment. Time stamps are a good idea, someone has had it before, so marking this as duplicate. Very, very busy right now with my day job (web programming is my hobby) so doubt this will happen any time soon.
