Role Control and Login Destination problems

I have used both of these modules on other sites, but on this one I'm having problems. Hoping someone has a quick fix so I don't have to rebuild site... Using v 6.2

1. Login Destination

I enable the module, but it doesn't show up in the admin menu, admin page, or permissions page. I have disabled/deleted/re-uploaded/re-enabled but still doesn't show.

I just want to redirect to the front page on login, is there another way?

2. Role Control

When user opts for role on registration, it doesn't stick to account, user does not get assigned the role. When admin sets the user to the Role Control role manually in users, it doesn't stick either. When Role Control module is disabled, admin can set user to the role, and when Role Control is re-enabled, the maually set user retains the role.

Also using Apply for Role, for a different role.

I have disabled/deleted/re-uploaded/re-enabled but still doesn't work.

Role Control, Login Destination, Friends Corkboard - start over?

I have checked for most recent versions (site is v 6.2)

I reinstalled the modules with the Devel module (as well as manually, from module page)

Login Destination: completely AWOL, no config in Menu, no Permissions, not on Admin by Module page, no trace of the module except on Modules page

Role Control: Appears on Registration page but the role disappears from user profile. When admin manually sets the Role Control role in the User Edit page, it also disappears (other roles can be manually set). User can use Apply for Role and when approved, Role Control role sticks. Tried disabling Apply for Role module (although I use both modules on another 6.2 site with no problem http://4m.netsperience.org/ )

Friends Corkboard: Have disabled FCKEditor wysiwyg for Corkboard body. When click on "Post" body field goes blank, when profile page reloads, "Message can not be empty." warning appears and corkboard post is not made.

If I need to reinstall on "clean" site what is best way to transfer settings etc. without importing the bugs? I know how to export and import SQL for individual tables. Content and even users not too important, still in development. Just don't want to have to rebuild from scratch if it can be avoided...
