I was wondering if anyone is using Site5 and noticed that their TOS specifically says not to use domain parking for new sites- one of Drupal's new multisitings best features.

Domain Parking Circumvention
Any attempt to circumvent domain parking restrictions by using selective HTTP redirects or any other method to send traffic from parked domains to sites other than the main site is strictly prohibited. If multiple domain names with separate content are required, domain pointers must be used instead.

Am I right in reding that this prohibits simply parking a domain and using the "sites" directory to control which site it goes to?

I believe your thoughts on this are correct, but I don't see this limited to use of muti-sites in one install of drupal using one database controlling it via drupal's sites directory.

If you had a large network of sites say for exmaple...

exmaple1.com, exmaple2.com, and exmaple3.com all of which are on one install of drupal usng one database for the user-base, and table prefixes within that databse for other data so you will have 3 seperate sites in terms of content but the users can use the same login for all 3 sites.

What site5.com is saying is that you can use your domain parking feature to do the following...

Have exmaple1.net as a domain parker that points to the same site as exmaple1.com; but your main domains, exmaple1.com, exmaple2.com, and exmaple3.com all need to be domain pointers (which site5 limits based on your account with them).

This way for each seperate website you have which has unique content you must register a domain pointer for it with site5, but if wanted 20 different domain names to point to this same website you can use your domain parking option for that.

Another option is to point 1 domain and use subdomains for your other websites.

I guess I won't be using them then. There is no need to make adding domains so difficult. Anyone actually on Site5 dealt with this?

That may be what you want. I use site 5 but I run seperate instalations of Drupal on both my sites. Email them and ask, they are very good with responding.

I am doing multisites on my site5 reseller account and it works fine and saves tons of configuration time.

Maybe the TOS only applies to the shared account.

I did get it working after a day of trial and error.
I will type something up, maybe screen capture, and post it for all future site5 and Durpal users....
