why a new module ?
wasn't it the purpose of http://drupal.org/project/ui to bring jQuery UI to Drupal ?
or do you have different goals in the end ?
cheers,

webchickDang it. :) I could've saved myself a lot of work if that project had been called 'jQuery UI' instead of 'User Interface'. ;)
From the issue queue it doesn't look like it's been touched since fall of 2007, I'll speak to dmitri next time I see him and see what the best solution going forward is.

webchickI spoke with Dmitri tonight, and he said that he has no intention of maintaining the ui project any further, and is cool with deprecating that one and referring people to this one instead.
So next week I'll roll some releases, add some disclaimers to the User Interface project, and we should be good to go.
Thanks for bringing this up. :)

webchickOk, User interface marked "Abandoned", note left at that project page to refer people over here, and new release created for this project. I think we can call this sucker done.

sunhrm... could you also add a notice to this project that points users to 'ui' for D5...? :)
Just stumbled upon this project by guessing the project name, but I was searchin for a 5.x version...

webchickWe had a conversation on IRC about this. Basically...
- User Interface module is only for Drupal 6.
- Tao Starbow created http://drupal.org/project/jquib (jQuery Backport) for Drupal 5, however it's for jQuery UI 1.0, and the project page recommends that people don't use it.
- Katharine Bailey pointed out that jQuery Update for 5 wasn't yet updated to the version of jQuery that jQuery UI requires. :(
- So... there is no solution for jQuery UI for Drupal 5.
So! I gave sun commit access so that he could make one here. :)

guardian commentedseems that there is a D5 solution for jQuery UI: http://drupal.org/project/jqui
however, we definitely need to stop the "we all do the same but different/better" module parade - I don't know if it's possible to unify jqui (D5) and jquery_ui (D6) because of jQuery's versions inconsistencies. jQuery successive releases with all the breaks they introduce cause a lot of damage everywhere :(
