That is no easy theme to recreate.... it will cost a bit.... do you have any idea of what your willing to spend on this?

btw... out of curiosity... that site doesnt run on drupal does it?

I am planing to build newspaper site, but for personally. I can pay around $100-$300 on this project.

The link above is running Drupal, I think. I got it from somewhere (I dont remember) in Drupal theme section.

your budget seems reasonable for theme development. however, it goes beyond your budget when drupal module development involved.

The NY Post is not a theme as such, it is a whole website. the layout is determined dynamically by the components which have been arranged to display according to a bunch of sql queries. The cost of such a 'theme' is well into the many thousands (probably more than 10). Set yourself a less ambitious target with your $300.

Only with the core and the modules available, maybe it can't be done.. maybe. But with some modifications, snippets, etc. a drupal dev that knows what he is doing can achieve something like this. I can do a website like this in about 2 - 3 months of solo work for a few thousands $

With drupal everything is possible. :)

The site is attractive but took much time to load on a 2 mbps connection.

Anyone who says this cannot be done with drupal is absolutely mistaken. Any site can be created - and the Drupal tools available can help or (in some cases) hinder the process.

All in all, Drupal can work very well for news sites. I am creating one for my town as we speak.

My e-marketing and drupal development firm can accomplish something of similar style and functionality for $2500. A little bit less than nypost.com can bring the prices down into the 1000's.
