Want to build my own small stock photo website, looking for modules which can help me, or may be somebody knows turn key solution.
Drupal Stock Photo Site
I've also been looking for a turn key solution for some time now also. There are a couple of interim solutions:
Gallery2 integration, gallery2 (on its own) supports everything you need for a stock photo website, plugin for sales and digital downloads, while i currenty run a couple of photos sites using gallery2 i dont think they are the best most flexible solution - currently the best and easiest open source 'turn key'. I personal I think drulpal gallery are lacking especially as photo cannot be easily accessed from durpal with things like views etc
To do it with drupal (yay!): I've not been successful so far in creating a drupal stock photo sales site - my work so far has gotten me to http://freeimageslive.co.uk, it's a free stock photo sharing site done in D6, it features (modules used in quotes)
views based search so i can style the results
rss feeds of lots of things - search results, photographers new images, new images from all users etc
bulk import of images including IPTC descriptions from the "exif" module, but no title or keywords as yet (a real pain! and something that seriously limits me)
some SEO work using "integrated metatags" to take the descriptions from the images and use them as a page description
"image" module and "image import" to allow bulk uploads, "moderate" module for reviewing other users uploads
the rest you can probably work out from the front end (fivestar, panels, the usual good stuff)
Now to move past that into selling the images I think that could be done with one of the shopping cart modules (ubercart?) and some of trigger/workflow type setup to automatically create products after an image has been uploaded. Ubercart would be a solution to your needs stand alone, but it would be seriously limiting to try to manually add stock photos one at a time for sale as digitial files unless you had less than say 50 images to sell.
can u tell me, from user's
can u tell me, from user's (or owner's) point of view, what a Stock Photo Site should be?
If u can help me to build such web site, I may build one for u as return.
Good day.
We go the drupal way. How about you?

stock photo site
it's a site that at a bare minimum allows a photographer to upload batches of photos, displays them to customers as low resolution previews, and allow the customers to add them to a shopping cart, once purchased the customer can download the high resolution version of the image or having it delivered by email, perhaps in a zip file if several images are purchased.
however, stock photo sites also need to read IPTC/XMP data from the image file (jpeg) to catalogue the images (keywords, titles and descriptions) use those for suitable page metadata so the images are in search engines. bulk manage the category that images are in, dealing with 1000's of images then you cant just add one and move one at a time. Provide and track clicks in highly sophisticated search, far more than just matching a keywords; display images a customer has selected in a lightbox or moodboard + plus everything else that standard ecommerce site needs these days like advanced CRM etc
my solution in mind: 1. photo
my solution in mind:
1. photo upload
a. basic - login to drupal web site and upload one by 1
this should always be available as a basic for newbie
b. professional - drupal photo synchronizer module
a new drupal module that can sync up a folder (directory) on user's PC with a folder in the web site.
user just need to manage the photos in this folder on his pc.
all photos in this folder will be available for sell in the web site.
2. preview - 2 options a) or b)
a. low resolution
b. hight resolution with watermark
not sure which one is better....
3. IPTC/XMP
yes. photo will be indexed by read the iptc info.
4. index for search
basic is easy. May be I still need more time to get a better indexing module for drupal.
5. shopping cart
ubercart is ready.
6. delivery
zip and send by email. (standard solution for software products.)
.....
May be a will design and build demo later.
Thanks. Good day.

I also want to build
I also want to build something like that
up to now I haven't come across anything that might be a "perfect solution"
there are some software-packages exactly for that use but I still prefer to do it with drupal if possible

"perfect" is in the eye of the beholder, but this can definitely be done with drupal + the ubercart module. Though it won't be a 'turnkey' solution, it should be flexible enough to implement whatever it is you think is "perfect".

very true!
I'm also thinking of going the Ubercart way, I don't have any experience with it (never done an eshop until now) but I believe it can be done :)
after all it is an eshop for photographs, and credits instead of euros/dollars
