i am a new user of drupal and need to change the user registration form which contains only user name and e-mail address. i want to add one more field called user roles. I kwon that it can be done by using the profile module, i tried doing it bUT it is reflecting other forms also like 'add user form' in Users is beeing reflected..

Users will assign their own roles ??
If this is after sign-up the admin can assign them roles.

Drupal has already have user roles in administration page. You do not need to add new field called user roles.

As said by others, Drupal already has user roles option. If you want to add more options in registration page.........
Activate "profile" module and add as many fields you want.
