I'm sure there's a simple answer to this, but I can't find it in the search.

How do you change the design of the various modules to fit neatly in the same row, column, or block?

For example, http://esciencenews.com has the forward, print, digg, stumble, etc. links all displayed in list tags. I've seen other sites that have them lined up horizontally.

What's the best/neatest way to achieve this look? I'm new to Drupal so I don't want to just start hacking away at files, changing html, etc. if there's no need to.
