In order to upgrade to the latest DEV version of JqueryUpdate (brings site up to jquery 1.2.3).
I had to first un-select/de-activate the Lightbox2 module (its dependant on Jquery) so I could do complete
re-install of original JqueryUpdate module as per readme instructions w module.

I update jquery via new version of JqueryUpdate, re-activated the Lighbox module but now any gallery images
that used automatic image handling no longer come up in lightbox, even though Lighbox settings same as before.
I had some other imaged just using the manual Lightbox hmtl tag, they still work...

Any idea what happened there? (using Drupal 5.7)

Well first you should upgrade to the latest lightbox2 version (5.x-2.7). If it still doesn't work, then send me a link to your site and I'll take a look - my contact form is enabled if you wish to send it to me privately.

I down-graded to original vs of Jquery/JQueryUpdate, fine now. Wierd, thought jQuery was backwards compatible,
dont really need jq 1.2.3, next time I use Lightbox I'll use newest version. Anyone else using latest Lighbox with
DEV version of JqUpdate?

I'll try out the dev version of jquery myself later this week, but to be honest, i probably won't get a chance until the weekend.

Like you I found that the DEV version of JqUpdate broke the auto-image handling.
After reading your post, I down-graded back to jquery_update 5.x-1.0 and it's working again.
Using Lightbox2 5.x-2.7

The difference between jquery_update 2.x and 5.x-1.0 is that it uses a different version of jQuery. The 5.x-1.0 releases uses jquery 1.1.x while jquery_update 2.x uses jQuery 1.2.x. There are a number of api differences between these two versions and I can't find a good working solution that supports both.

I'm going to have to postpone lightbox2 changes to support jQuery 1.2.x until there is a stable 2.x release of the jquery_update module.
