Are there any goals to port this to version 6? Maybe a timeline?

oh I figured it out, files can be attached to comments.
So here it is drupal 6 version of the annotate module as
it is given in the Pro Drupal Development 1st edition.
Just one thing, I couldn't manage to make the annotate
deletion form work, does anybody have an idea?

Please cleanup the file first and rename it as a real tar.gz. Naming this as a stable version (1.0) seems a little too bold.
My suggestion would be annotate-6.x-1.0-dev.tar.gz

Hmmm this code does not look like my module annotate.module ... you just translated the books example ... so my guess is that this will not work as intended :-(
To do this properly checkout the 5.x-1.1 annotate module and try to convert this throught the code module. Then provide a patch that I can review.
You could try to wait for 2 month or so. I will convert this module @/around drupalcon Szeged

Oh, I really did not notice the filename was bad. About the version, I am not acquainted to the naming standards, perhaps you could provide me a link or something :). Yes, as I have written in my previous post, it is a translation of the module from the Pro Drupal Development book.
I have downloaded the annotate 5.x version, but I really do not get much from just the code, and it is hard for me to translate it to 6.x drupal core. If I can find somewhere the things this module has to do, I would be glad to try and translate it.
Anyway, thanks for the tips, as I am new to drupal!

I work for CTC and we have a real need to port Annotate to Drupal 6. I would love to work with you on this. Do you have any D6 code for this project yet? Thanks.

Created a D6 port, changed logic around, not complete, thus don't want to post it. I have sent it directly to Clemmens (the maintainer of this module).

Just created the 6.x-1.x-dev version.
But I will check binary bills code too.
