This is a great forum indeed! Although there is one thing that bothers me.
I acknowledge the needs for users to subscribe to forum topics, I myself included. But it gets annoying when dozens of people do this in development threads. "Say something meaningful instead of spamming!" the maintainers sigh. And I understand, because it IS annoying. But even if someone wants to subscribe to a topic, this doesn't mean that this someone have something meaningful to say instead of "subscribing". How about try finding a solution to this?
Example: Why don't drupal's site admins figure out a way for the system to IGNORE posts containing only the word "subscribing" when sending page to browser? I know its not done in a second, but it would remove "spam-like" content in those very popular threads (especcially devel threads!).
Think about it. It would be great to get rid of them, and somehow still have the opportunity to subscribe.

Once you post to a thread, it is then listed in your 'my recent posts' panel, in your profile.
It is done simply so you can 'bookmark' interesting threads - Drupal core doesn't offer any
better way of keeping track of them.
Most dedicated forum scripts have a 'track this thread' feature, which allows you to
subscribe to threads without having to actually post anything to them.
I think there is an 'advanced forum' Drupal module which may already include a solution(?).
Perhaps a more coprehensive forum script will become core in the future?
