I have gone as far as assigning the anon users all the access priviledges in the list (on testing site only) but still no luck, I have tried to clear the views cache and reseting post settings but still no luck, I dont know what else to try, would disabling and re-enabling the views modules make a diff perhaps? aaarrrgghhh!!!

You also have to set the anon permission on the view itself.
Have you done that?
