When I started the Advertisement module image banners were stored in example.com/files/banner.jpg however when I tried uploading a new banner yesterday I noticed an image node was created with the banner located at example.com/files/image/banner.jpg and when tried to approve the ad it was reset to pending and an error saying that the ad module can't find the image.

when this occurred I was using 5.1.4.1 I upgraded to the latest version last night and same error.

The reason I didn't know this error was there before was due to the fact that even though I was updating the banner module from time to time it has been some time since I used the advertisement to create new ads.

Are you using the ad module or the banner module? You refer to the banner module above, leaving me confused.

The ad_image module doesn't handle file uploads itself, this is handled by the core upload module.
