I know OpenID is now part of core in Drupal 6. Is that module compatible with this one?

If I were to install this on my Drupal 5 installation, then upgrade to 6, will all of the ID's be kept?

quick answer: yes. This module is the D5 version of the same module... the ID's will be maintained on upgrade.
