Description
This is a utterly fantastic module, I rank it up there with Views & CCK... but is it dead?
Are there plans to develop this for 6? I am starting a new project site using 5.7 and would very much like to include Oyoaha, BUT our roadmap will eventually lead us to Drupal 6, and if this module isn't going to eventually be updated I'm reluctant to use it.
Any update from the developer(s) would be great.
Thanks!

I just discovered that this functionality is now built in to views bonus pack... I'm so happy I could just, fall over. :-)
Perhaps someone should make note of this on the module page?

David,
David here (as well). Thanks for the positive feedback. We put this module in heavy use and have handed it off to many a friend here in Portland, OR, but never managed to get much headwind on the full Drupal community side of things. And we agree with you. The module fills a very big gap between Views & Display by integrating a lot of the steps and tools, and we're still not convinced there's much else out there filling the gap yet.
Firstly, I'm curious as to what 'functionality' you needed that is now included in the Views bonus pack. We built the module because view bonus wasn't close to doing what we needed. And I'm still not convinced. But definitely want to know.
Secondly, we will be porting to 6 (both Liquid Layout and Injection - they go hand in hand) conditional on 2 things: 1) we get to do a project in 6 (very hopeful, looks likely in September) and 2) the new Views+CCK+Panels does not finally solve the problem Liquid Layout solves. For the latter, we've been following development on the modules, but we won't really know the how they work until we start developing with them.
Lastly, a note about Panels: a lot of people ask us why we don't use panels to accomplish a majority of the things we do with Liquid. Our answer is that Panels does not respect a solid content management workflow - instead it actually breaks down the workflow. I'm optimistic about Panels 2 but still not convinced. And I'm not saying Panels shouldn't be used, I think developers should know there's a cost to using panels.

Feel free to continue the conversation here or PM. And if you would like, we do have a more current version of the module we've yet to contribute. I could easily send your way...
How's your project coming?
Sincerly,
David

I'm curious. I don't understand what this means: "does not respect a solid content management workflow"
I understand the idea of a cost to using panel, but I'm trying to understand the details. I've been reluctant to use panels, but not sure why.
AI'm curious, too, about the views bonus pack connection, made by the original poster.
So, questions for both.

Hi David,
If you've got a more current version, could you slide it my way too? Or commit it? I'd like to give this a test run!
Cheers,
Zoe

Hi David, thanks for your comments and sorry I had not been following this thread and didn't realize it was active. I misspoke earlier, I did not mean that Oyoaha functionality was 'built in' to the views bonus, I meant that Oyoaha Liquid Layout was now packaged with Views and no longer required a separate module download. I didn't realize that fact when I first posted.
I run several high traffic sites built on Drupal and Oyoaha Liquid Layout is simply the single most important module we utilize next to views. It is so important, we probably wouldn't use Drupal without it. It really surprises me that it isn't more utilized by the Drupal community - perhaps many people just aren't aware of it or what it is used for. I am a designer not a programmer, we couldn't get by without it. It does seem as though tools made for designers don't quite reach the level of popularity they deserve around here.
I couldn't agree with you more about Panels - it is a very 'un' Drupal way of doing things and seems to go against the entire philosophy of the Drupal CMS. I've spent a lot of time working with it, but never have moved to using it on a production site. The entire module feels like a hack to get things working. I highly respect the community that has put so much time and effort in to that project, but it goes the wrong way down the wrong road as far as I am concerned.
I strongly urge (and hope) that you do move forward with a version 6 project eventually. Personally, I am quite disappointed with the route Views has taken in 6, and still have no love for Panels 2. All of my sites remain on 5 for just this reason. We couldn't customize our design and layouts the way we do without OLL and with the tools currently available on 6.
I would also love to take a look at your unreleased version! If you would like to send it off to davidsnyder[at]me.com I'll take it for a spin!
Thanks again for all your work,
(also) David

I just wanted to chime in too, just like David said above, all my sites remain 5.x for the same reason, this module is completely indispensable. I have many other 5.x modules that I like, but would be willing to live without, but not this one. Just wanted to pledge my support, I'll be happy to test new versions and patches, it seems I'm very good at breaking things :-)

Thanks for the kind and encouraging remarks. Team OYOAHA just returned from a much needed few weeks vacation and I'm only now getting around to some replies.

Our lack of sharing has simply been due to our own poor handling of versioning. (Which always feels like a "lazy" excuse.) Our lead developer, Philippe, has made internal changes that didn't get merged...and over time, well, you know how it goes. Especially when our module integrates with Views and Contemplate - so little tweaks here and there have been happening as well to keep up.
His primary concern is data base schema changes that may bust a migration from the current d.o download version and our 'internal' working version.
Quick Fix: For now I'll email a working version to those who've requested it. I'll trust you to backup and test before implementing. (Snyder and Allen above are on my list)
Long Term: We're doing some major internal work in October. Getting back on top of versioning all our dev is high on the list. We'll also take a look at D6 dev.

Documentation: This is random, but I'm wondering if you all have checked out the documentation for the module. Has it been helpful?
