This is the same as for the image.module bug when uploading avatar pictures.

Need to apply same fix to 4.2.0 and CVS.

I'm updating this bug because the same issue still affects Drupal today, as of CVS version for 10-29-2003. This has been fixed in image.module, the same fix needs to be applied to profile (hopefully before 4.3 ships).

profile module now uses file.inc. please reopen if this problem perists.

I have sent a patch to fix this problem with the file api, but it requires also this -very simple- patch in profile.module.

CVS has a completely new profile module.

Since this issue is still relevant (even after more than two years), and the patch provided is directly in connection with the open_basedir restrictions issues, continue this one there.
