indexing/searching non-node content such as users and comments

I'm under the impression that the goal of this module is to completely replace the built in search module? At this time, however, it appears to only index nodes, and the internal functions seem to be quite node-centric. What is the plan for supporting other content types, such as comments and users?

My hope is to have a functional replacement for d.o with this module, however it looks like we have a ways to go yet...? I'll start submitting patches, but I before I make major changes I'd like to be sure I'm going in a direction you support.
