I've posted the very first working revision of my webcomic management module to my cvs sandbox, and thoughts/feedback would be very muhc appreciated. Posting a new webcomic is much like posting an image, with the addition of a 'sequence' field that allows comics to be ordered arbitrarily.

The modiule dynamically buildes 'first/previous/next/last' links at the bottom of each comic and can reference other comics by sequence number rather than node. When posting a new comic, the next available sequence number is automatically filled in. They can be changed later to re-order comics.

This is my first stab at a module, and the code is a little rough but it's up and running at my drupal webcomic site One Hundred Words. The next challenge is adding a more flexible navigation system -- I'd like to break up comics into issues, scenes, and mark some comics as cover images or 'alternate' versions of official comic pages. (A bit like the 'alternate covers' one can find in graphic novel compilations.) I'm leaning towards a taxonomy-based system, with the comic.module's settings being used to configure the behavior, but I thought I'd get input from others before plofing forward.

Any thoughts?

Firstly thankyou for your contribution. It is enabling me to build a website for a friend for free who in no way could afford it otherwise. Can't wait for everyone to see his work.

Yes, the navigation of the comic module could be improved. I am finding the sequencing confusing. I agree with all your suggestions and i think the most pressing improvements would be the ability to make issues.

I would be most intersted to hear about the timing of development for this module and who is currently using this module. Examples?

It looks good. My comments would be that I found it odd that when I clicked it, it started me at page 21. When I hit prev, it went to page 22. I hit index and it jumped to page 1. As you say, navigation could be improved. Maybe a << and >> to jump to beginning or end and index displays all of the individual page numbers and an option scene name.

I'm finishing up several projects at the moment, but a full rewrite of comic.module IS in the cards soon. Improving the navigation system and supporting things like sites with multiple comics are top priorities.

I've had some conversations with other users about what would be good to add/improve. If you have any specific ideas about how things should work, please post OR log an issue to the comic.module project :)
