Adding a sidebar | drupal.org

I'm experimenting with the new Alchemy theme, and I'm wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction for a tutorial on adding a region, (Alchemy is a two column layout, with extrea top and bottom regions, - a feature I really need, but I also want left and right sidebars instead of just the right sidebar.) The CSS I can figure easily enough, and I know there's not much to adding a region in php.info, and template.php, I just can't find any tutorials that are drupal 6 specific.

Alchemist theme is excellent

I has tested the theme its rock the drupal community I think you should go through some three column theme documentation and then move on to alchemist
