new lifestream service: myFeed.gr

skullJ - June 3, 2008 - 16:22

After a lot of time of integrating drupal in a better Social Network system we managed to develop a lifestream service, called www.myFeed.gr

Myfeed.gr supports both greek and english language with egnlish been the main language of the web site.

MyFeed.gr is user-profile based system with friends and personal guestbooks, but the most important module that we use is the Activity stream.
All users can import their accounts of third party sites(only usernames) and their feeds aggregated in one profile locate in www.myfeed.gr/username . We are supporting 36 web 2.0 applications, easy to use! http://www.myfeed.gr/blog/list-third-party-sites-supported

We configured the Activity stream module the way to post videos, podcasts and images from other sites into nodes.
Profiles are based on Advanced Profile Kit module but I configure in that way to display in core’s profile module the information that we need.
Users can send private messages (Privatemsg module), add their friends ( Buddylist module), add personal guestbooks (Guestbook module), import their contacts from msn messager etc (DCL importer module ), subscribe on others users lifestream (Subscriptions module) and find other users (Find user module).

Template based on adt_webapplication and fblike both by using the Taxonomy Theme module.

We want to add a better profile system where users would be able to choose colors and configure the profile’s panels (maybe we will use mysite or adv profile with panels module). We work on it.
In the upcoming update we will add OG groups module with options to display user’s group feeds.
At last we have some problems with cron jobs because the minutes between cron runs is 15 minutes and our database is too small with 50 users.
We are aiming to create a free and good lifestream service with the power of drupal.
Any feedback is welcome.
