How hard would it be to make this work for a node body as well as comments?

not very. javascript code embeds a riffly tag into the comment body when recording is complete - which when rendered fetches the riffly video or audio. Instead of entering it into comment body - you could change the javascript to embed the riffly tag into the node body instead.
