I wonder whether there is any SEO plugin or module for search engine optimization for Drupal websites.

drupal already supports clean urls
drupal already supports path aliases using the path.module

other modules that come to mind would be nodewords.module

though sites without that module seem to be heavy in google searches as well.

Only available for D5 at present but just open the module up and have a look inside! (or install on a D5 site to see what it suggests...)

You don't really say what end of SEO you're interested in ...

The path module is helpful, but I find pathauto more so and have written up a couple pages outlining how to enable clean URL's and pathauto (and WHY)
