Drupal redirects to cakePHP pages

Hi all,
Ive been trying to develop a drupal/cakePHP app for quite a whwile now with a large number of headaches. Im not sure if i am doing something wrong as my experience level isnt huge but i have a problem with the redirects to cakePHP pages. For example i have the language switcher bar installed in drupal and if I hover over another language to switch to it, the url it redirects to is www.mysite.com/drupal/en?url=categories/browse/1 where it should read ?url=drake/categories/browse/1. This means that whenever you switch language it redirects to the homepage instead of the same page but with the new language.
Has anyone got any ideas how to solve this or come across a similar problem at all?
