The settings of the compression type required for the jQuery UI JavaScript file seems useless, to me.
As the administrator must copy the file from the distribution of the jQuery plugin, he can freely copy the file he wants, and rename it to jquery.ui.js (or any other names the module looks for). There is no reason for him to switch then from minified to packed; in the case he would need to do such thing, then he could simply copy the JavaScript file, and rename it as apropiate.

Yes, this setting hails from 1.5b4, when it included packed and minified versions of all the sources. 1.5RC1 changed all of that. :(

I agree; have the module just ship with the full versions of the source file and then either rely on Drupal's JS aggregation or copy/paste/rename like you say.

Minified/packed versions are back in the final release, so marking this won't fix to keep the settings there. mfb and mfer have each stated legitimate reasons for wanting one over the other @ #265644: D6 and jQuery 1.2.6.
