Description

Hello,
Love this module. Very nice. I'm trying to add custom fields and have them sent into CM. I can't seem to get it figured out. It seems pretty straight forward unless I'm missing something????

This was just a module I created for my own needs, and then decided to add it to the community. For that reason, it doesn't have all the functionality it should. I only have built in capability to have a 'Name' field added. Basically if you have 'Profile' installed, just add a Name item and it should work.

Can you give me a description of what you would like it to be able to do? Or, if you could add a new feature request with the description of what you would ultimately like, that would be even better.

Cheers,
Stephanie

Ok, I still hope to add this functionality, just not quite sure the best way to go about it yet.

Possible continue integration with the Profile module, maybe have just its own custom fields. Hmm, stil thinking...

Looks like the Campaign Monitor API has added in the capability of getting the custom fields. I will add this to the list of functionality to add.

Rather than looking at Profile (which may yet die in D7) or Content_Profile, you might want to look at RealName as a way to get user specified names.

FWIW, I'd wait for D7, when users will be able to get their own fields directly, before doing much work with custom fields.

From the discussions around this subject, I wouldn't wait.

At the very least follow the method used by http://drupal.org/project/MailChimp with a separate module.

Sorry, to expand a little.

See the way the Drupal MailChimp module implements a separate module to support one way of handling profiles (bio).

I also believe that CampaignMonitor module could be making it's life a lot easier by dropping in the PHP class they provide. We'd be very close to custom fields then.

Ok, I'm putting this on my list of updates now that I might have a bit of time.

NancyDru, thanks for the info on the names, I will have a look.

sime, already looking into that...so hopefully that will speed this update up a bit.

Cheers,
Stephanie

I've added this to the latest 6.x-3.x-dev version and will create a beta soon. I most likely will not put this functionality in the 5.x branch, unless I get people really wanting it.

Ok, released in the 6.x-3.x branch, starting at 6.x-3.0-beta1. I will not add to the 5.x branch unless I specifically get a bunch of people requesting it.
